On the occasion of the International Day of Education 2025, which is being commemorated on ‘AI and education: Preserving human agency in a world of automation’, I would like to reiterate the importance of education in promoting children's rights and promoting a better future. As the Special Rapporteur on Education of the ACERWC, I would like to call upon Member States to strengthen their efforts to bridge the gap in accessing education, particularly girls and children with disabilities, mitigate the impact of conflict on education, and thrive towards ensuring school completion rates. I also encourage  Member States of the African Union to increase their budget allocation for the education of children and invest in school infrastructures with a focus on accessibility to children with disabilities, leisure activities, and early childhood education. Children in Africa deserve quality education and access to technological facilities to enhance their competency to partake in various activities at a global level. I also  encourage all stakeholders to join efforts to address barriers that hinder access to quality education. Finally, I would like to stress the need to ensure  child participation in planning for education services such as designing education curriculums, content, and infrastructural development.

'Education for all children in Africa!'
